• Restore— don't replace!

Whether your windows are drafty, difficult to open, or the sash cord is broken, Medicine Wood can help.

Restoring windows is cost-effective, improves energy efficiency, and retains the character of your historic building.

Full Restoration— This process includes the removal of the sash, stripping old paint and putty, repairing any damage, freeing a sticking sash, lubricating sliding surfaces, adjusting stops and locks, and replacing broken glass. We then putty, prime, paint, and reinstall.

Tune-Up— Freeing sticking sash, removing excess paint, lubricating sliding surfaces, and adjusting the stops and locks.

Energy Efficiency Enhancement— Installation of spring bronze weather stripping to make the sash weather-tight and operate smoothly. This helps to prevent drafts and rattling.

Mechanical Restoration— Renewal of ropes and pulleys.

  • Like windows, restoring a historic door is cost-effective and helps retain a building’s character.

The door restoration process includes stripping old paint, repairing damage, adjusting hinges and locks, replacing broken glass, priming, painting, and reinstalling.

  • At Medicine Wood, we restore and recreate historic millwork, moldings, stair parts, and much more.
