Restore— don't replace!
Whether your windows are drafty, difficult to open, or the sash cord is broken, Medicine Wood can help.
Restoring windows is cost-effective, improves energy efficiency, and retains the character of your historic building.
Full Restoration— This process includes the removal of the sash, stripping old paint and putty, repairing any damage, freeing a sticking sash, lubricating sliding surfaces, adjusting stops and locks, and replacing broken glass. We then putty, prime, paint, and reinstall.
Tune-Up— Freeing sticking sash, removing excess paint, lubricating sliding surfaces, and adjusting the stops and locks.
Energy Efficiency Enhancement— Installation of spring bronze weather stripping to make the sash weather-tight and operate smoothly. This helps to prevent drafts and rattling.
Mechanical Restoration— Renewal of ropes and pulleys.

Caring for a historic building can be a daunting task. At Medicine Wood, we offer comprehensive maintenance plans and reports to help guide the preservation and restoration process.
Maintenance plans— A comprehensive document describing the upkeep of an entire building, including care recommendations, a maintenance schedule, and instructions showing you what to do, how to do it, and when.
Maintenance reports— Focused on a particular maintenance issue, such as the care of windows or doors, repair of cracking plaster on walls and ceilings, deteriorated finish on molding, or recommendations for exterior and interior painting.
